The Place -

Deoriatal, a small lake with forest like surroundings, an extremely green bugiyal on the one side and Chowkhamba standing tall on the other and Deoriatalcrystal clear bird chirping sounds on the way to it is a wonderful place to set your feets for a day or two atleast. The trek is quite small - you have to walk for a mere 3 Kms from Sari village. The altitude of deoriatal being 2438 meters, for average fitness trekkers, the elevation is quite comfortable. To climb up from Sari - It will take around 1:30 hrs to 2:00 hrs in steady walk. Once you gain heights, the captivating view of Sari will grow with more wonders. With jum (Step) cultivation all around in Sari, the ariel view in a clear sky will be worth watching. A couple of Resting places have been built by the local authorities. Sit for a while, look around, enjoy nature's wonders and then continue walking. DeoriatalThe last 100 meters, the way is quite flat. After crossing the said bugiyal, here comes Deoria Tal. In a clear sky day, the reflection of Chowkhamba can be seen in the lake.

An entry fee of Rs.40/- is needed to paid to the forest department for entering the Deoria Tal area. Some tenting arrangements are also there. A stay for a day or two will be a memorable experience. Deoriatal is a very quite place with a population of 2/3 people and plenty of birds and fish all around. Mobile connectivity of BSNL has also reached the place recently.

How to reach - On the way to Chopta - Ukhimath - Guptakashi - Gourikund, between Chopta and Ukhimath, take a diversion to Sari, The distance of Sari from Chopta is 24 Kms and Ukhimath is 19 kms away from Sari. Vehicle is available from Gourikund, Guptakashi, Ukhimath, Mukumath, Chopta etc. Bus service is available once in a day to Sari.
